Canadian musician Christine McLean is an orchestral clarinetist, pianist and music educator from Owen Sound, Ontario. She is an active performer, soloist, clinician and teacher and  participates in concerts, workshops, and seminars throughout Ontario. Most recently Christine traveled to the lovely Fort Collins, Colorado to participate in the Lift Clarinet Academy with Dr. Wesley Ferreira, Dr. Jana Starling and Dr. Wonkak Kim.  Less than a month later, while participating in the Canadian National Conservatory of Canada's Summer Sizzle Keyboard Kamp, Christine had the privilege to perform with composer and pianist, Christopher Norton, his very own Sonata for Clarinet.  You can check it out on his facebook page.

Originally from Guelph, Ontario, Christine began studying music at the age of 7 on the piano.  Her love of music inspired her to continue her studies in piano and pick up the clarinet at school. While in high school she joined many community ensembles where she had the privilege to work with conductor Colin Clark and juno nominated jazz musician Brent Rowan.  She then completed an Honours Bachelor of Music Performance on clarinet from Wilfrid Laurier University where she studied with Ross Edwards, principal clarinetist of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.  She has since also studied with Dr. Jana Starling from Western University.   She has been a member of the Stratford Symphony Orchestra since 2006 and the Georgian Bay Symphony since 2008. Her freelance orchestral experience has grown to include the Toronto Sinfonietta, the Scarborough Philharmonic, Arcady, and the Toronto Mandolin Orchestra.

Christine has worked as a Yamaha music teacher receiving training for 5 of their international group music programs in Toronto before moving to Owen Sound in 2008.  Her studio in Owen Sound, Surround Sound Music, is where Christine shares her passion for music education to students of all ages.  Her students participate in studio performances, local festivals, RCM/CNCM examinations, masterclasses, studio recordings, composing and other community events.

In the community Christine is part of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association and has been on council since 2012.  Recently she has joined the Education Outreach committee for the Sweetwater Music Festival directed by Mark Fewer and enjoying the opportunity to enrich musical connection in Grey Bruce county.
